The 09 Times Table

Are you enjoying these KS3 Maths times tables quizzes? Learning the nine times table involves multiplying numbers by 9 and there's a really easy way to do this. Take for example of 8 x 9, take the 8 and subtract 1, making 7. That is the first of your numbers. The second is whatever is left to make 9. 7 + 2 = 9, therefore your second number is 2. So 8 x 9 = 72. Easy isn't it?

Another quick way to multiply a number by 9 is to times it by 10 and then subtract the original number. Using the example of 8 x 9 again, first work out 8 x 10 = 80. Now subtract 8 from 80 and you get the answer 72. You might find this system even easier than the first one I mentioned. Whichever suits you best you can use it to work out any answers you are stuck on. But, better still, practise your times table until you know the answers without even having to think.

Don't rush through these quizzes. A moment's lapse in concentration and you could accidentally hit the wrong answer!
