About KS2 Design and Technology
KS2 Design and Technology (D&T) encourages children to think creatively and practically. It teaches them how everyday objects are designed and made, while giving them the chance to experiment with their own ideas and projects.
Through quizzes such as Circuits and Switches and Health and Safety, children can discover how inventions work and why safety matters. Other favourites like Design and Planning and Structures show how ideas move from the drawing board into real life.
The subject builds essential skills in problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. It also connects with science, maths, and art, making it a well-rounded and engaging part of the curriculum.
See the official Government guidance: Design and technology programmes of study: key stages 1 and 2.
