About Times Tables
At KS1, children start learning multiplication through times tables. This builds the foundation for later work in mathematics, helping them to calculate quickly and spot number patterns.
Fun quizzes such as the 1 Times Table and the 2 Times Table allow pupils to practise and grow in confidence. More advanced challenges like the 10 Times Table and Times Tables Mixed push them further once they have the basics secured.
Learning times tables helps with everyday skills such as counting groups of objects, working out costs, and understanding division. It also prepares children for KS2 maths topics.

Frequently Asked Questions
When do children start learning times tables?
Children usually start learning simple times tables in Year 1 or Year 2. They begin with the 2, 5, and 10 times tables before moving on to others.
Why are times tables important at KS1?
Times tables give children quick recall of multiplication facts. This makes solving maths problems easier and builds confidence for more complex work later.
How can parents help with times tables?
Parents can support learning by practising little and often, using songs or games, and encouraging children to apply times tables in everyday situations like shopping.
