About KS1 Science
Our KS1 Science section turns the National Curriculum into bite-sized quizzes that make learning fun and memorable. Each quiz has 10 carefully written questions with friendly hints to guide children aged 5–7 (Years 1 and 2). Topics range from animals and plants to seasons, materials, forces and simple investigations, helping young learners build curiosity and confidence.
Children can dip into popular starters like Animals – Babies or explore food chains and eating habits in Animals – Carnivores, Herbivores & Omnivores. Habitat knowledge grows with Living Things – Animal Habitats, while healthy choices are covered in Staying Healthy – Food (Balanced Diet). Visual learners benefit from our large bank of picture quizzes, designed to reinforce key ideas through clear images and simple wording.
Everything here aligns with KS1 Science aims and vocabulary, supporting classroom learning as well as home study. Quizzes can be replayed to reinforce facts, track progress and encourage discussion with parents and teachers. With regular practice, pupils develop the core knowledge they’ll need for KS2 and beyond.
See the official Government guidance: Science programmes of study: key stages 1 and 2.
Frequently Asked Questions
How should my child use these quizzes?
Start with a topic they’re learning at school and play a quiz once or twice a week. Encourage guessing when unsure — feedback after each question helps children learn and remember.
Are the quizzes matched to the KS1 National Curriculum?
Yes. Topics, wording and difficulty are designed for ages 5–7 and support what children cover in Years 1 and 2. They’re ideal for revision, consolidation and practice at home.
What if my child finds a quiz too hard?
Use the built-in hints and try easier topics first. Replaying a quiz boosts confidence, and you can mix in picture-based quizzes to reinforce understanding before moving on.
