English 11-Plus Subjects

Overview of 11 Plus English
The 11 Plus English examination covers a broad spectrum of writing skills. Students are evaluated on their vocabulary, spelling, grammar, synonyms, antonyms, sentence structure, punctuation, etc.
Furthermore, the English assessment often includes reading comprehension tasks to gauge students' ability to comprehend and analyse written passages. There may also be a creative writing component, where students can showcase their creativity and writing prowess.
Most of the groundwork for English proficiency is typically covered in primary school KS2 English lessons. Supplementing this with additional reading and practicing quizzes in this section can be highly beneficial.
Importance of English in the 11 Plus
Surprisingly, some grammar schools choose not to include English in their entrance exams. Approximately a third of schools opt to exclude English from their assessments, focusing primarily on the core assessment subjects of Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-verbal Reasoning.
